The strength and performance coach: Why I'm Here to Help You?So, what landed me in this position. Why do I want to help you to become the best version to improve your body and help you to create a better you? Are you ready for the most cliche' yet transparent self-transformation story I have to offer? Well, here you go! As a young bloke, I knew all too well the struggles of just trying to fit in with the crowd. I had low self-esteem, low self-awareness and a high dependency on self-sabotaging behaviours; binge drinking on weekends, smoking, eating terribly and on top that, I hardly exercised. I treated myself and my body as a low priority, and as a result, I felt like crap most of the time. I experienced anxiety, depression, and I often felt like a bit of lone wolf, even though I had a large circle of friends.
I reached a point where something just clicked. I simply knew I needed to focus on moving forward with my life. My current habits and behaviours were not serving me, and I guess I felt a bit of a void in my life. I didn't have a game plan, nor an end goal, I just knew I wanted to become a better version myself and live a more fulfilling lifestyle. Insert fitness. I joined a gym, I trained... A LOT. I loved it. I was a sporty kid growing up, so determination and consistency weren't too hard to find. Yet, I hardly had a clue when it came to what was optimal for me as an individual in term of training and nutrition. All I knew was that I needed to train hard and be consistent (I didn't say train smart *cough* ego-lifting *cough*).
I competed in powerlifting twice, and bodybuilding once and I continue to use methodologies from both sports in my training today.
My community was a big part of my journey as they heavily influenced how I wanted to live my life and how I wanted to behave daily. I changed my environment, and who I spent time with, I focused on getting better each day, and I learnt how to get more out of my health and fitness more as well as learning how to coach my clients to do the same. Currently, I have 5 years of education and experience in the fitness industry. I've coached hundreds of people and specialise in coaching females (20 - 35) who want to build strength, get leaner and become more empowered by their bodies. I continue to learn and have recently become an ASCA Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coach. On top of that, I am also studying a Bachelors of Exercise and Sports Science. I don't intend to be braggadocios. However, I do mean to show you I am committed to becoming more educated and staying accountable for offering the best service I can to my clients. I firmly believe we humans thrive when given the education, structure and accountability needed to succeed in whatever the endeavour may be. This is why I utilise my experience with my clients and knowledge from all sources to create programs and coaching relationships that achieve success in many shapes and forms. I firmly believe a commitment to your health and fitness reaches far beyond stronger lifts, bigger muscles and better performance. This commitment teaches you the importance of worshipping your body. It teaches you how to plan for and overcome challenges. It empowers you to go on the offence in life rather than just standing amongst the crowd fearful of expressing who you truly are.
